MUSIC fans will be pleased to learn The Pogues drummer is returning to the region with his band.

Andrew Ranken will play in Stamford, with the Mysterious Wheels, before touring Europe with Shane McGowan and The Pogues.

Michael Houlihan, from the Voodoo Lounge, said: “The band played to a packed house at the venue in April this year, and it’s really exciting to be able to announce their return playing rhythm and blues and roots style blues, fronted by Ranken, clearly a fine singer and frontman in his own right.”

Support is from Tattooed Sex Gods. Tickets are available at Mama Liz’s bar or by emailing to reserve. Doors open at 9pm and tickets cost £5 from 01780 765888

Ranken also played the inaugural Peterborough Randall Rootz Festival when he and Pogues whistle player Spider Stacey joined Peterborough’s Dead Rabbits for the 2007’s opening night

The fourth Randall Rootz Festival will be held from August 20 to 22, and aims to raise funds and awareness for the city’s Sue Ryder Care, as well as promoting music and diversity in Peterborough.
