Following a sell-out concert with the world famous Black Dyke Band in April, the city’s award winning choirs are delighted to be welcoming the double Grammy-Award winning King’s Singers to perform with them at the much-loved Broadway Theatre.
The ‘Peterborough Sings!’ ambitious Big Names concert series has put the Broadway Theatre firmly back at the centre of the city’s cultural scene, bringing a diverse mix of internationally renowned musicians to work and perform with Peterborough Male Voice Choir, Peterborough Voices and Peterborough Youth Choir during their highly successful residency at the iconic venue.
King’s Singers, the latest group of renowned musicians to take to the stage, have been regarded as a global phenomenon. With their work representing the very best in vocal ensemble performance, appealing to a vast international audience.
The group are regular visitors at some of the world’s finest concert venues including the Sydney Opera House, Washington National Cathedral and the Royal Albert Hall in London. They will arrive in Peterborough fresh from back-to-back tours of Germany, Italy and Asia.
Their repertoire is diverse, including everything from jazz standards to pop chart hits, medieval motets to Renaissance madrigals and landmark pieces from leading contemporary composers.
Their contribution to classical recording was recognised in June 2013 when they were chosen as one of only two vocal ensembles to enter the Gramophone Hall of Fame.
The King’s Singers will be at the Broadway Theatre at 7.30pm on Saturday, May 30. Tickets from £12 can be purchased from the Visitor Information Centre, by phone on 0333 666 3366 or online at www.peterboroughmvchoir.org.uk
