This friendly little locomotive has just arrived at the Nene Valley Railway’s Wansford HQ, and his job will be to pull the Santa Specials between Sunday (November 30) and Christmas Eve.
Pulling the Santa Specials the loco will travel nearly 700 miles and consume over 100 tons of coal and some 30,000 gallons of water.
The Santa Specials experience starts with a welcome from station staff and badge team, followed by a visit to Santa’s log cabin where each child receives a special present from the man himself.
The steam hauled, decorated train then takes a 55 minute ride to Peterborough and back. During the journey staff serve the children with a drink and chocolates.
Parents and other adults are not forgotten with a serving of a mince pie with either an alcoholic miniature, wine or a hot drink.
Santa walks through the train to see the children and to wish everyone the compliments of the season.
