A preview exhibition for this year’s Peterborough Artists’ Open Studios event will take place in Cathedral Square this weekend (19/20 May).
More than 60 artists from across Peterborough are set to throw open their doors to the public over three weekends in June.
For the first time in the event’s 12 year history, a preview exhibition will be held in Cathedral Square, between 10am and 5pm, both Saturday (19 May) and Sunday (20).
Head of commercial operations for Peterborough City Council Annette Joyce said: “Peterborough Artists Open Studios is a wonderful event which shows off the work of the hugely talented artists and craftspeople we have living and working in Peterborough.
“Cathedral Square will be the perfect setting for them to showcase what will be on offer when they open their doors to the public.”
This year, the open studios weekends will take place on June 9 and 10, June 16 and 17 and June 23 and 24.
Participants will open their houses, studios and even their gardens to the public.
Visitors will be able to see all kinds of locally-produced arts and crafts, including painting, drawing, pottery, jewellery, weaving, embroidery, mosaics, sculpture, woodwork and textiles.
Many of the items will be for sale.
