Arrive from 6pm and enjoy the beautiful cathedral setting. You can take a picnic or head for the hog roast, or gourmet burgers and hot dogs. There will also be a bar and ice cream cart.

The Scarlet Pimpernel is set in Paris in 1793, when young English gentlemen of unrivalled daring risked their lives to rescue French aristocrats from the guillotine at the height of the French Revolution.

They left no trace except a note from the “Scarlet Pimpernel”. Pursued by the ruthless spy Chauvelin, the Scarlet Pimpernel and his men must use all their wits to evade capture and stay alive.

Advance tickets are £9 (child), £12 (adult) and £33 (family) online via www.peterborough-cathedral.org.uk or from Peterborough Information Centre, Bridge Street, Peterborough (01733 452336).
