Plenty to smile about at Stamford's Corn Exchange

A 15th anniversary celebration and the best January on record have got the year off to a flying start at the Corn Exchange theatre in Stamford.

The new year has also seen a new direction in programming with the fantastic addition of an array of comedy thanks to one of the country’s top comedy agencies Off The Kerb.

Rob Beckett, who is on stage tomorrow and Romesh Ranganathan at the end of next month are both sold out, and tickets for Josh Widdicombe (August 9) and Jeremy Hardy (May 27) have just gone on sale.

The autumn comedy line up will be announced soon and look out for “Graeme of Thrones”, a parody comedy which has been enjoying rave reviews and comes direct from the West End.

Rich Hall recently sold out and The Corn Exchange’s Judith Mackie said: “He asked us for a copy of the Stamford Mercury and within half an hour of studying the paper he turned his performance around to become incredibly locally topical in the most comical manner.”

She added: “Last year we successfully refurbished the front of the building repairing the stonework and we added a state of the art sound system to our auditorium. In November we launched our new websites

“This year has seen our favourites Hawkwind coming to us in April along with many original artists, acts such as Andy Fairweather Low, Fairport Convention, The Fortunes,The Dreamers.

“Big band fans will love The Syd Lawrence Orchestra and our Salute to James Last with the Mike James Orchestra.
