Peterborough one of the luckiest places in England to live if you want to be a millionaire!

The Peterborough (PE) postcode today landed a top ten spot in the National Lottery's new UK league of luck '“ making it officially one of the luckiest places to live.

Out of the nation’s 121 postcode areas, the PE region ranks 9th for the number of millionaires made to date.

Since the launch of The National Lottery, 73 millionaires have been made in Peterborough – equivalent to one every four months. In total, 494 top tier prizes of at least £50,000 have been banked by players in the PE postcode.

Local winners who have shared news of their win recently include Gerry and Lisa Cannings from Deeping St James who netted a staggering £32.5m on a Lotto rollover in February.

And last month, father and daughter Derek and Lorraine Daniels, from Whittlesey, took home a £700,000 share of the Lotto jackpot.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor for the National Lottery, the man who pays out the big winners, said, “Peterborough has enjoyed a huge win recently – the second biggest Lotto jackpot - and we hope it continues to stay lucky.

“There are now a massive 4,250 National Lottery millionaires across the country and with more than six new millionaires made every week there is likely to be another local winner made soon.”

It isn’t just individuals winning big, the entire community benefits from the money raised by The National Lottery. In 2015, 30 grants worth £5.4m were distributed to National Lottery funded projects in the Peterborough region.
