Hair-raising tuition for Little Voices

Peterborough Operatic and Dramatic Society is putting on the hit musical at The Cresset in April, which will provide an opportunity for the pupils of Little Voices, which has classes across Peterborough and Stamford, to go and critique their tutors.

Well-known Peterborough musician Steve Hession, a singing tutor at Little Voices, is Musical Director for the show, and he finds himself working alongside drama tutor Amanda Villamayor, who is playing Velma Von Tussle, and assistant tutor and former pupil Jericho Taylor, who is playing Amber Von Tussle.

Little Voices focuses on expert guidance and traditional teaching methods in singing and acting, delivered in small group lessons to maximise student development. Having recently won a national award for the UK’s Best School Age Music Activity, principal Julie Armstrong commented: “We are thrilled that our tutors are on the stage in Peterborough, setting an example to our pupils on how it is done.

“We have a committed, passionate and talented team at Little Voices Peterborough and our success is testament to their expertise and dedication. It is important that children are taught by people with hands on experience of the stage and performing - and that the disciplines of the theatre are taught in a fun way.

“It is so exciting that our tutors are involved in this fabulous production of Hairspray and that our pupils can take this opportunity to see them in action,” she said.
