The Crowland ace is part of the Great Britain women’s squad preparing for World Championship (Division 2A) battle in South Korea.

GB will face hosts South Korea, as well as Australia, North Korea, Netherlands and Slovenia, in the six-team tournament which runs from Sunday (April 2) until the following Saturday in Gangneung – the venue for next year’s Winter Olympics.

Lane said: “I am really looking forward to the tournament. It’s exciting to have the opportunity to play in great facilities and experience life in another country.

“We have a young team, but we also have high expectations for ourselves and we’re aiming for nothing less than gold.”

Lane, 19, also represented Great Britain in their Winter Olympics qualifying tournament late last year.

She has recently returned from a spell playing club hockey in Switzerland and hopes her stint there will stand her in good stead for the international game.

Lane added: “Playing in a top league at a faster pace - alongside and against some very talented players, has made me feel ready for the World Championships.

“It was great to spend time abroad and it is looking likely that I’ll go back to Switzerland next season as well.”
