Thomas Moore (14) with his first barbel caught on the Nene.

Caster is the ‘in’ bait at the fishery right now and it was caster that did the trick for Whincup as he caught on a short pole line up in the water to finish with a fine 194lb 7oz.

Pushing him all the way was Josh Pace, who fished similar tactics but finished just short on 192lb 2oz. Third was Jimmy Brooks on 187lb 5oz.
