Wray, 18, continues to go from strength to strength after his success in the British Championships in Glasgow earlier this season with two second place finishes in his age group and in the process two new Lincolnshire county records. During the 2016 East Midlands District Championships last month Wray maintained his form and produced three outstanding swims and claimed the 50m, 100m and 200m Freestyle crowns. He also produced some lifetime bests in the 50m and 100m Fly in which he picked up a silver and bronze medal.

Wray, who is a member of Deepings Swimming Club, will now compete for Great Britain as part of a team of 26 junior swimmers who will be travelling to Hodmezovasarhely in Hungary for the European Championships, which run from July 6-10.

It may be an Olympic year, with the Rio games fast approaching, but these young swimmers are pushing for their own Olympic selection for Tokyo in four years time.
