Peterborough Panthers bosses have been forced into a search for a new guest number one ahead of their Premier League play-off semi-final showdown against Edinburgh.
The city club had lined up Elite League ace Nicklas Porsing of King’s Lynn, but he is now unable to race in the first leg at the East of England Showground on Sunday (October 4, 5pm).
Porsing has unexpectedly been called up by his Polish club, Ostrow, for a promotion play-off on the same day. He would face the possibility of a heavy fine and a suspension in that country were he not to ride in that fixture.
Joint Panthers boss Dale Allitt said: “Nicklas was booked to guest in our semi-final around three weeks ago but his Polish club are now involved in a play-off of their own and have insisted he must ride for them.
“Nicklas feels very bad about letting us down and is keen to apologise to everyone connected with the club.
“We’re now working hard to make alternative plans and we hope to have a guest in place within the 24 next hours.”
Guest options are limited as Panthers can only call on riders from the Premier League whose own clubs have not made the play-offs.
