The city club have this morning unveiled the 23 year-old as the final capture to complete a team they hope will challenge for Premier League honours this season.

Porsing arrives on loan from parent club King’s Lynn after having spent the past two-and-a-half years with the Elite League outfit.

He now drops into the second tier of the sport for the first time and Rathbone believes he will be a revelation on a bargain 6.58 converted average.

Rathbone said: “We’ve been chasing Nicklas for a long time and we’re delighted that he has chosen to put racing for Peterborough in the Premier League above riding in Poland.

“He is really determined to prove himself again after having a tough year in 2015 and I have no doubt he will show everyone he is a top talent on an absolute steal of an average.

“He impressed with his performances in a couple of guest appearances for us last season and I can’t wait to see him riding regularly in a Panthers race-suit.

“He has shown his liking for the Showground track and the fact he is a pure racer will serve him well in the Premier League.

“It’s great that we’ve been able to take advantage of our strong links with King’s Lynn, through Dale Allitt, again.”

Porsing’s arrival means the complete Panthers team will come in well under the 42.50 limit for team-building.

The combined averages of the chosen septet – spearheaded by captain Ulrich Ostergaard (7.87) and also featuring Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen (6.91), Michael Palm Toft (5.96), Simon Lambert (5.19), Emil Grondal (5.12) and Tom Perry (3.00) – equal just 40.63.

That could be seen as a risky strategy, but Rathbone has issued a vigorous defence of his winter recruitment.

He added: “We haven’t signed names and we certainly haven’t signed numbers.

“What we have done is sign the riders we think are capable of ensuring we are up there challenging for the title again.

“It is a team which really excites me and I would not swap any of our seven men for any others who are available.”

Panthers fans can catch a first glimpse of Porsing tomorrow night as he is scheduled to attend a supporters’ club quiz night at the Post Office Club on Bourges Boulevard.

Panthers have confirmed their season will launch on March 20.

Club bosses are working on their opening meeting after previous plans to stage skipper Ostergaard’s testimonial were put on hold.

The club’s Press & Practice Day is on March 18.
