Peterborough Panthers rider Lewis Blackbird was involved in a crash while riding in an Elite League fixture last night (August 17).
Blackbird was advised to withdraw by medical staff after hitting the deck in his second ride in Wolverhampton’s basement battle against Leicester at Monmore Green.
Blackbird was caught up in a spill also involving Lions guest Jason Garrity and Panthers promoter Ged Rathbone said: “We’ve had a word from Lewis’ camp that he was withdrawn as a precaution so hopefully it is nothing too serious.
“We certainly can’t afford to be hit with any more injuries as we prepare for the most important spell in our season.”
Panthers begin their Premier League run-in when entertaining Newcastle at the East of England Showground on Friday.
They are homing in on a play-off spot as they sit third in the standings with six meetings of the regular season remaining.
