The club confirmed the appointment head of press day (March 17) at the East of England Showground.

The 35 year-old is the club’s most experienced man and the ideal candidate to lead from the front - on and off the track - according to promoter Ged Rathbone.

Rathbone said: “No-one is more honoured to ride for Peterborough than Ulrich.

“This club has been a big part of his career and he is determined to enjoy more success here.

“Ulrich is well aware of the fact his form dipped towards the end of last season, but he knows the reasons why that happened and they have been addressed.

“Other than those few meetings, Ulrich has been excellent for the past three seasons and he is confident of having another good year in 2017.

“He is respected by riders and supporters alike, but we’re looking for even more from him in the pits this year.

“We need to him to share his knowledge with his team-mates and ensure the spirit is always strong.”

Ostergaard will skipper a new-look Peterborough side in which he is one of just two returning riders. Simon Lambert is the other.

The team for 2017 is completed by new recruits Jack Holder, Kenneth Hansen, Paul Starke, Bradley Wilson-Dean and Tom Bacon.

All except Starke, who has commitments with parent club Somerset, took part in the Press & Practice Day.

Panthers host a Coventry team in a challenge match at the Showground on Sunday (March 19).
