Peterborough Panthers' Saturday semi-final is OFF
Peterborough Panthers have seen their SGB Championship play-off fixture tonight (October 6) become a casualty of the wet weather.
The club’s semi-final, first leg against Lakeside at Rye House was postponed this morning.
It has been re-arranged for next Sunday (October 14) which means a clash between the sides at the East of England Arena tomorrow (October 7, 5pm) becomes the first leg.
“It’s no surprise the meeting was called off it the weather down at Hoddesdon is anything like it has been in the Peterborough area today,” said Panthers team boss Carl Johnson.
“It’s a sensible decision - and one taken early in the day - so as not to mess supporters around.
“I’m confident we’ll be okay for tomorrow at our place. We have a great team of track staff who will be working hard from first thing.”
Johnson confirmed Panthers have been forced into a change of number one guest for the home clash.
He revealed their initial selection Thomas Jorgensen has dropped out with Scunthorpe man Steve Worrall being drafted in.
Johnson added: “It’s disappointing not to have Thomas as he has ridden well in his guest bookings for us.
“But he feels that by taking the meeting tomorrow he would not have sufficient time to prepare his machinery for King’s Lynn play-off final in the SGB Premiership on Monday night.
“We’re delighted that Steve has stepped in. He rode very well against us for Scunthorpe on Friday and we know all about his quality around our track as well.”
Redcar man Jordan Stewart is the club’s reserve guest with rider replacement in operation for Bradley Wilson-Dean. Emil Grondal is fit after a hand problem.
