New signing Bradley Wilson-Dean was far from impressed by his competitive debut display for Panthers.

The New Zealand champion contributed paid eight points as the city side beat Scunthorpe last Friday night to make a winning start to the SGB Championship season.

But Wilson-Dean’s return fell some way short of his expectations and he’s anxious to quickly improve.

“I wanted 10 points, but ended up with half of that,” admitted a rider who helped Somerset to a double at this level last season.

“I can only blame myself as I didn’t really deal with the change in track conditions from it being so slick for the Challenge against Coventry the previous Sunday and much heavier for the Scunthorpe meeting.

“I know I can beat every guy in this league and I need to step it up.

“I don’t come all the way from New Zealand to run third places.

“I set my sights pretty high and I really hate it when I fall short.”
