But, last Friday, the entire Panthers team descended on Peterborough City Hospital to spread a bit of cheer rather than seek treatment.

They handed out presents and Easter eggs, donated by the Peterborough Panthers Speedway Supporters’ Club (PPSSC), to young patients in the Amazon Ward.

Promoter Ged Rathbone said: “We are very keen to do more in the community and this was part of it.

“Every rider was in attendance and it was a very humbling experience to be able to give a little bit of cheer to those unfortunate enough to be in hospital.”

Panthers will also offer any long-term patients at the Amazon Ward the chance to attend home meetings during the 2016 season.
