“The whole team has been trying really hard to get my bike working for me and it’s great to finally be able to show people how good I am.”

The 21-year-old had been struggling to recover from his ‘worst ever start to a season’ that included two pointless outings for the Panthers in May.

However, a resurgent Grondal roared into action at Scunthorpe on Monday wih a solid six points before continuing his good form at home just a few hours later.

“It was a tiring but successful day. It was a good result at Scunthorpe earlier in the day and I missed some gates but still managed to put in a good performance.

“I have been sending my engines back to Denmark for some small changes but I think we have found some solutions to the problems so I should be able to kick on from here.

“It is so hard in speedway when you aren’t riding well, you put yourself under pressure and it is much more fun when you are scoring points” said Grondal.

“When your engine is not working and you are struggling to keep pace then it’s easy to get down butI always try to focus on what I can do to improve and focus on the team.”

After helping his team soar to the Premier League summit on Monday, Grondal expressed his determination to keep the Panthers top of the table.

He said: “We are the best team in the league on our day, we have great fans behind us and we want to repay them by staying top of the league.”
