SOUTHERN LEAGUE: Win after win after win for the all-conquering PAC team

Peterborough Athletic Club athletes notched up win after win in their home Southen League Division Three match at the Embankment (July 9).

Their match score of 322 was enough to win by way over 100 points, from second placed Braintree.

Ellie Forrest had a particularly good day grabbing three wins and three personal bests in the 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles and the high jump.

It was Forrest’s first performance over the long hurdles and, following an impressive display, her team mates hoped it wasn’t her last.

It was full points for the Gibson family in the 400m with daughter Nichola and mum Kay winning their strings. The two also grabbed a number of other firsts and seconds across the day.

In one of her only performances this year sprinter Hannah Talbot grabbed wins in the 100m and 200m.

Sprint hurdles sensation Ella De Lucis was unusually narrowly beaten in both the 100m and 100m hurdles despite two excellent times.

Ever reliable Stacy McGivern grabbed wins in the high jump, long jump and shot putt.

The men’s team was no less successful.

The team won both strings in the 800m (Amittai Ben-Israel & James Sadlier), 1500m (Steve Robinson & James Whitehead) and 3000m (Steve Robinson & James Whitehead).

Young sprinter Ryan Adams grabbed two strong seconds in the 100m and 200m, in his first outing for the senior team.

Club chairman Matthew Dalton found his hurdles races (110m and 400m) unusually hot, placing just third and second respectively. He did pick up some good points in the field however, including wins in the pole vault and discus.

Jamie Moffat won his strings in the triple jump and javelin.

Chairman Dalton commented: “It was difficult to know which event to watch. It was just win after win after win, a fantastic day for the club.”
