Archie Sootheran of Peterborough City Rowing Club gained selection for the Eastern Region Junior rowing team with a dazzling display on home waters yesterday (March 22).

Sootheran, a British indoor rowing champion, won the J14 Single Sculls to qualify for a place in the Eastern Region team contesting the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta (JIRR) in Nottingham next month.

Thorpe Meadows hosted the time trials and City just missed out on providing other qualifiers. National champions Thomas Marshall and Tom Nash were second, just two seconds behind the winners, in the J15 double sculls and Hannah Chatfield finished second in the womens’ J16 single sculls.

Other City rowers to perform well without qualifying for the team Abdul Aly and Forbes Plumb.
