Talented local skier Lucy Blackwell won a silver medal at the British Indoor Ski Championships at Manchester’s indoor ski slope, the Chill Factore, at the weekend (September 5/6).
The nine year-old from West Deeping, who trains at Tallington lakes, finished runner-up in the Under 10 age group and just missed out on the gold medal by a mere 0.01 of a second.
The British Indoor Ski Championship are organised by the sport’s governing bodies of Snowsport England, Wales and Scotland.
The slalom course was set by Carl Ryding, a leading ski coach and the father of Dave Ryding, Britain’s number one slalom skier.
Lucy is now looking forward to spending time over the winter working on her technique on snow, as well as strength and conditioning training.
