Peterborough Rugby Club held their annual presentation evening last weekend (May 16) which was attended by over 200 guests.
The first XV awards were fiercely contested, with all the winners being players who have played for the Fengate club since they were boys.
The ‘players’ player’ prize went to Chayne Loades, and one of the most popular winners on the night was Sithenkosi Fivana, who picked up the ‘most improved player’ award.
The ‘player of the year’ was such a close run thing that for the first time it was decided to award a runners- up prize. This went to Aaron Throne. The deserved winner was John Thompson.
The prestigious ‘clubman of the year’ award went to the Britchford family.
Mum Jo, who also won the ‘ladies player-of-the-year’ prize, also cooks the senior players meals, and runs the club shop. Dad David plays for the club veterans, as well as working behind the bar, helping the ground staff and coaching a highly successful under 9 team.
Both their children play rugby, Alisha having represented East Midlands Girls, and Leland, who plays in the mini section, and is already a fully fledged member of the first team squad, eagerly helping out on match days.
Second XV awards went to Josh Casborn, James Annis and Richie Warlow.
