It’s no surprise that England rugby union coach Stuart Lancaster quite rightly dropped Manu Tuilagi from his Worls Cup squad following the player’s guilty plea for assaulting three people in one incident.
What’s more of a surprise is why the out-of-control bully isn’t right now residing at Her Majesty’s pleasure.
Two of his victims were female police officers, which suggests he is a coward as well as a violent offender.
I can imagine the furore if a current England international footballer had committed similar indiscretions. The best former England players Matt Dawson and Jeremy Guscott could do was to say they were ‘disappointed’ in Tuilagi, as though he’d just dropped the ball rather than committed multiple assaults.
