The Daniels were in control from the moment Rob Morgan opened the scoring in the second minute. Joe Burgess and Reece Morris netted before the break and Stan Mugisha completed the scoring just past the hour mark in front of 239 spectators at the Zeeco Stadium.

Spalding are still without a win after eight league matches (six draws) and now have just two teams below them in the table.

Peterborough Northern Star suffered late agony in their United Counties League Cup tie at home to Boston Town. Jake Sansby’s first-half strike looked to have won the day, but Boston equalised in the 95th minute and then won a penalty shootout 5-3.

High flying Pinchbeck predictably had no trouble in their tie at struggling First Division side Bourne Town, easing to a 7-0 win after a five-goal second-half. Bourne have now conceded 17 goals in their last two matches.

Lee Beeson bagged a hat-trick - his first goals for the club - while Josh Smith (2), Ollie Maltby and player-boss Ian Dunn also scored.

Deeping Rangers and Holbeach United have away ties tonight against Huntingdon and Sleaford respectively.
