Peterborough Lions had a special guest attend their game against Birmingham on Saturday.
City MP Stewart Jackson was there at Bretton Park to officially open the club’s new changing rooms adjacent to the first team pitch.
Lions chairman Andy Moore said: “We are extremely proud to be opening our new changing facility today, which will vastly improve the experience of current members of the club, both adults and juniors.
“With the additional changing rooms, we can now accommodate more players on match days and this will increase participation in rugby both at adult and junior levels.
“We hope to encourage more players to take up rugby, especially at mini and junior level and also see an increase in the hosting of tournaments and other competitions.
“Our thanks go to Mick George Ltd for their grant of £35,000 from the Mick George Community Fund and thank-you too to Augean plc for their grant of £30,000 from the Augean Community Fund, made on the recommendation of the Kings Cliffe and Thornhaugh Environmental Associations.
“Without the financial assistance offered by these projects, this and many other sporting facilities would not be available to help encourage children and adults to participate in sport in their local area.”
