Thorney are back in the promotion hunt in Midlands Division Four East (South) after winning 84-0 away at whipping boys Corby.
Number eight Rob Elsey scored in the first few minutes from a driving lineout and they never looked back.
It was one-way traffic after that, although Corby never gave up trying, and Thorney went on to score 14 tries.
The try-scorers were Jack Lewis (3), Rob Elsey (2), Jamie Jenkins (2), Chris Deplancke, Daniel Nunn, Sean Leedell, Jack Allen, Luke Cochrane, Chris Phillips and Conor Crown.
Player/coach Chris Phillips said: “This was an excellent game to get the boys back into league rugby after the Christmas break. The win has taken us up to joint second with Bedford Swifts but they do have a game in hand.
“The boys are training hard and will be looking to keep the winning run going against local rivals Deeping at home this Saturday.”
It wasn’t such good news for Oundle in Midlands Division Three East (South).
Their promotion hopes suffered a setback when losing 32-15 at home to leaders Rushden & Higham and they have slipped to third in the table.
Oundle paid the price for a disastrous first half which saw half-backs Craig Tandy - after only 10 minutes - and Basil Letts go off injured. They trailed 29-5 at the break.
“We learned a lot about ourselves today and need to cope better when there is disruption,” said coach Peter Croot. “I’m sure we will see the backlash as we are a good side.”
