Peterborough Regional College started 2015 with a massive victory yesterday (January 14).
They smashed visiting West Suffolk 77-0 in a British Colleges League match they dominated from start to finish.
They took the lead after two minutes with a try from lock forward Joe Gregory and from the re-start Dean Elmore received the ball and ran it back 70 metres to score a second try.
Five minutes later Elmore powered over again and fellow flanker Reece Callaby touched down next.
West Sussex had no answer to the rampant Regional College forwards, who were far too strong for them, and further first-half tries came from number eight Sam Cowell (2) and scrum-half Jack Webb and it was 49-0 at the break.
Regional College cleared their bench at the interval to allow for some key development of younger players and further tries were scored by Wilson Crowson, James Joyce, Tennison Waller and Josh Broome.
Coach Lewis Capes said: “The boys ran away with it today as the opposition were clearly struggling to deal with the physicality of our of play. All of the younger players had an opportunity to play which was pleasing. Now we need to keep this momentum going to stay on track to retain our league title.”
