Hide AdThere were three free-scoring performances from local teams in the United Counties Premier Division as Yaxley, Wisbech and Peterborough Northern Star scored 17 goals between them while chalking up three wins.
Phil Stebbing topped the individual honours board with five goals in Yaxley’s 7-1 win over struggling Sleaford. Matt Sparrow and Stuart Wall also netted at In2itive Park.
Wisbech are up to third place after a 6-3 win at Cogenhoe. This was a much tigher contest than the final scoreline suggests with the hosts unlucky not to be awarded a penalty at 4-3 down.
Michael Frew grabbed a hat-trick with a penalty from Danny Setchell and two goals from Alex Beck completing the scoring.

Hide AdStar were a goal down early on at St Andrews, but were 3-1 ahead before the hosts lost a player to a red card just before half-time. They stretched that lead to 4-1 before St Andrews replied with a late penalty. James Hill-Seekings and Zack Munton scored two apiece for the city side who are three games unbeaten under new manager Steve Wilson.
Deeping Rangers were denied the chance to go second as their home match with Oadby was abandoned at half-time when the floodlights failed at the Haydon Whitham Stadium. Deeping led 2-0 at the time through goals from Scott Mooney and Scott Coupland.
Holbeach United remain second even though their scheduled game at Kirby Muxloe was postponed because of a frozen pitch. The Tigers, who host Deeping at Carter’s Park next Saturday (December 23), are 11 points behind leaders Newport Pagnell.
In Division One Pinchbeck United are seven points clear at the top after easing to a 3-0 win at lowly Bugbrooke St Michael. Ollie Maltby scored twice before on loan Peterborough United youngster Ollie Shackleton claimed his first goal for the club.
