Riches not only played well to help thwart a torrent of Harleston attacks, she also saved a late penalty stroke to enable City to claim a point from a 1-1 draw. It was the loss of City’s 100 per cent winning start to the campaign, but they still moved up a place to second,

Harleston took the lead in strange circumstances as the umpires initially blew for half-time four minutes early. They re-started play and in that time the hosts scored with a powerful shot,

City had to re-group after the break and up their intensity, which is exactly what they did, putting early pressure on their opponents. They were eventually

rewarded by a short corner routine, initially saved by the keeper, but picked up by captain Robyn Gribble who slotted it away to drag her side level.

City tried to capitalise on their momentum, but came up against a solid Harleston defence. City showed excellent determination to hang on the point they had,

despite the team seeing two yellow cards and a penalty flick awarded against them.

City of Peterborough host mid-table St Albans seconds at Bretton Gate next Saturday (October 20).
