Pollard on the mark again on the Jay Lake

Jay Lake was the venue for the latest Rookery Waters Qualifier and it was that man again, Mark Pollard, topping a small but very strong field with 97lb 14oz from peg 23.

Fishing meat at five metres tight over to the far side on a long pole line, he caught carp averaging 2lb to 3lb for a very hard-earned victory.

Runner-up from the golden peg was Graham Welton, who fished pellet on several lines to finish with 80lb 14oz.

Third place went to Richard Linnell on 73lb 1oz.

In the first Thursday £1,000 Qualifier of the year fished on the Magpie Pool there were some impressive weights recorded with seven weights over 100lb weighed in despite the heavy overnight frost.

Making it back to back wins at the fishery was John Belshaw, who came out on top in a very close match with 127lb all taken on corn and pellet in the margins and feeder from peg 24.

Runner-up was cat meat specialist Chris Saunders, who caught carp pushing 15lb from peg 35, with Tony Watling Senior third with 117lb 14oz.
