Sharon shines in Fenland Clarion’s Bluebell cycling race, but Paul’s the quickest again
Fenland Clarion’s popular Bluebell 10 miles series got off to a flying start with a full field of 40 entrants.
And Paul Lunn showed that once again he’ll be the rider to beat by clocking an impressive 21:59, although Jonny Hynes
pushed him close with his time of 22:04 to give him the
belief that a race victory could be within his reach in the next few weeks. The top three was completed by the ever consistant Simon Pitchford in 22:29.
The fastest lady of the night was Tonya Smith in 26:32 from Annette Wyld in 30:47 and Lynn Smitheringale in 33:06.
However as the main seasons awards are based on handicap it was actually a win for Sharon Asplin in 34:49.
Fenland Clarion riders Chris Shaw and Richard Crook began their open season in fine style on the A10/14 course from Long Bennington. Shaw clocked 21:53 to be close to his all time best and Crook was close behind in 22:05. Both averaged a decent speed in excess of 27mph.
