Karate king Rob Taylor has completed a hat-trick of ‘Sportsman of the Year’ wins - not bad for a man who retired last year!

But you can’t keep a top champion down and Rob, who runs the TASK (Taylor Academy of Sport Karate) in Peterborough, returned to compete in the 2019 European Championships and promptly won it!

Taylor said: “I came out of retirement for one more competition to see if I’ve still got it and it seems like I have!”

Taylor was a clear winner of his award with ace bowler Nicky Brett, British speedway champion Charles Wright and emerging golf talent Robin ‘Tiger’ Williams left in his wake.

Brett will be a strong contender in 2020 after lifting two World Indoor titles in January.
