CRICKET: David Gillett cracked 138 as Market Deeping beat Messingham by four wickets in the Lincs Premier Division despite being set an imposing victory target of 314.

CRICKET: Youngsters Mark Wheat (78) and Jamie Smith (5-46) excelled as Peterborough Town beat Market Deeping by 76 runs in Rutland Division One.
FOOTBALL: Sawtry Under 11s won the Alconbury Junior tournament. The winning team was: Hayden Bream, Jonny Hipwell, Ryan Smith, Lawrence Francis, Josh Bennis, Chris Alban and Connor Belgrove.

POOL: City schoolgirl Carly Smith was selected for the England team. The 15 year-old St John Fisher student came through a 64-player trial.

Hide AdPOSH:New manager Barry Fry believed he had signed a future star in striker Zeke Rowe. Rowe moved from Chelsea to become Fry’s first Posh signing.
CRICKET: Peterborough Town won the Jaidka Cup Final after restricting Market Deeping to 50-9 and replying with 131-6. The final was played over two nights back then and Deeping conceded after the second night was delayed by heavy rain. Captain Dominic Ralfs (5-25) and Tas Ahmed (41no) starred for Town.
ATHLETICS: Nene Valley Harriers won the World Veterans Over 40s Road Race title in Belgium thanks to Mike Barnsdale, Stan Owen and Gwyn Potts.
POSH: Barry Fry continued his signing spree by capturing Walsall pair Martin O’Connor and Scott Houghton. Their fees would be decided by a tribunal.

CRICKET: Nenedale reached their fifth consecutive Jubilee Shield Final with a six-wicket semi-final win over Newborough despite 40 from the villagers’ Mark Goodale.

Dave also beat Dennis in the singles final and teamed up with wife Pat to claim the mixed doubles crown. Nikki Kerridge won the ladies singles and doubles, with Jean Hart her partner in the latter.
ATHLETICS: Darren Abbondanza was named ‘athlete of the year’ at Stanground School.

ROWING: Star Peterborough City sculler Pete Zeun just failed to become the first man from the club to win at the Henley Regatta when beaten by Australian Ted Hale in the final of the Diamond Sculls.
GOLF: Werrington man Neil Grant won the Czechoslovakian International Junior Open.
CRICKET: Nenedale beat Castor by 20 runs in the top-of-the-table clash in the Peterborough League. Carl Russell (43) and Ian Williamson (5-42) were Nenedale’s top performers.
