New surface at Burton Street suits the senior team

The Peterborough & District senior team christened the club's new wooden floor and carpet with an impressive opening 8-2 defeat of defending Cambs League champions Cambridge Chesterton A.

The hosts clearly found the new Burton Street surface to their liking as they powered their way to a 96-57 victory.

There were wins for the rinks of Dick Noble (34-14), Mick Linnell (26-14) and Ray Keating (21-11), while captain Rod Maplethorpe was beaten 15-18 on the last bowl.

n Northants Bowling Federation hold their annual general meeting at the Peterborough & District club next Wednesday (7.30pm).

At the meeting, Dick Noble (West Ward) will receive the presidential chain of office from outgoing president Tony Mace (Whittlesey Manor) to begin a two-year tenure.

One of the last duties for the current president was to host Sunday’s annual men against ladies indoor match along with Northants Women’s Bowling Federation president Jessica Phillips (City of Peterborough), who will end her presidential stint at their annual general meeting on Wednesday, November 7, also at Peterborouogh & District.

The match, staged at the Peterborough & District club, saw the men come out on top by four rinks to two to retain the trophy.
