NATIONAL INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS: Ex-City of Peterborough stars flying high

Two Peterborough-based players have helped Team Bath Buccaneers to top spot at the halfway stage in the prestigious Men's Indoor Premier Division competition.

Former City of Peterborough stars Cameron Heald and Sam Anderson are both at university in the South West of England so teamed up with Bath to stun some highly-rated sides in the first half of a two-weekend event at Bromsgrove School.

Team Bath won all four of their matches against Loughborough Students (5-3), Brooklands, Manchester (3-2), Reading (3-2) and Holcombe (5-2).

Holcombe are the current National League (outdoor) champions, while seven of the nine competing clubs play outdoors at Premier Division level, one division above Team Bath.

The second weekend of the competition takes place on January 6/7.

Standings: 12pts Team Bath Buccaneers, 10 Wimbledon, 9 Surbiton, 5 Holcombe, East Grinstead, 4 Brooklands, Sevenoaks, 1 Loughborough Students, 0 Reading.

Heald and Anderson were both part of City of Peterborough junior teams who enjoyed success at county, regional and national indoor championships.
