The computer programmer was in action at Brands Hatch last weekend and roared to victory in both races in the Caterham Tracksport Championship.

Barnes joined the Caterham Academy to learn all about competitive racing two years ago and has made massive progress in a short space of time.

The Academy is exclusively for drivers who have had no previous race experience and Barnes finished sixth in his first year of racing in the Academy Championship for novice drivers.

Last year he progressed to the Caterham Roadsport series where the car is upgraded to make it faster and handle better. He finished second in that rounding off the season with a first place at the iconic Silverstone circuit.

This season there was another upgrade. The car was made more aerodynamic and Barnes moved up to compete in the Caterham Tracksport Championship.

And he launched his bid for glory with a double win in the opening event of the year, winning race one by over seven seconds and race two by a close 32 thousandths of a second. He currently leads the 2016 championship.

The race will be shown on Motors TV on Saturday April 16 at 8pm. The next event will be in Anglesey on May 7 and 8.
