Chatteris cueman Joe Perry was beaten in the second round of the China Open in Beijing today (March 31).

Perry, who won the first major ranking tournament of his career as well as £100k in Bangkok on Saturday (March 28), went down 5-3 to fellow Englishman David Gilbert.

Perry led 3-2 with a top break of 55, but Gilbert reeled off the last three frames.

“I can’t complain, I’ve had worse weeks,” Perry said.

Perry is next in action in the World Championships at the Crucible in Sheffield starting on April 18.

Perry moved to a career-best high world ranking of nine after winning in Bangkok.
