A late goal from Anna Faux eventually settled an end-to-end thriller in favour of second-placed City. They remain five points behind today’s opponents in the East Division One table, but they are six points clear of third-placed Dereham in a division where the top two are promoted automatically.

The visitors, who had lost just once in 17 league matches before today, led at the break after claiming a well-worked goal, but City kept their composure and remained patient.

Back came Cambridge and they levelled with 15 minutes remaining before Anna Faux won the game with less than 10 minutes to go.

Player-of-the-match for City was goalkeeper Eliska Srnska who made some superb stops.

City have a crunch game again next Saturday (March 3) when visiting Dereham.

They travel having won all six of their Division One matches in 2017.
