MATCH REPORT: Ladies catch Dragons, but still need a point for promotion

City of Peterborough Ladies are still a point away from a first-ever appearance in the East Premier Division after a 3-3 home draw with Norwich Dragons seconds at Bretton Gate today (March 11).

City needed a win to secure promotion from Division One North, but had to twice fight back from two goals behind to claim a point against surprisingly stubborn opponents.

The Dragons scored early and then added a second goal before the break on the breakaway after surviving heavy City pressure.

City were dominant in the second-half and soon pulled a goal back through Tierney Augustine, but all looked lost when Dragons raced down the other end to restore their two-goal advantage.

But this is a City side with a great deal of grit and determination and Anna Faux and Robyn Gribble claimed late goals to claim a crucial point. Faux sisters Anna and Emma were named joint players-of-the-match.

One more point from games at Bedford seconds (March 18) and at home to Cambridge University seconds (March 25) will seal the deal for City.

City of Peterborough men still have the East Premier A Division title in their own hands after a hard-fought 3-2 win at Ipswich today. Report to follow.
