Swimmer wins rowing medals

A talented all-rounder from Peterborough School won two medals at the 2018 National School Games at the weekend.

Holly Leggott (15) from Market Deeping was selected by British Rowing to compete for England South in the indoor rowing competition at Loughborough University after winning the Sainsbury’s Spring School Games.

And she had a superb competition.

In the five-minute row, she won her heat and went on to finish third in the country in a tightly fought final, rowing her best ever distance of 1,313 metres.

Holly was competing against athletes who regularly participate in rowing events, whereas her main sport is competitive swimming with Deepings Swimming Club.

On the second day of competition she landed a gold medal as a member of the winning mixed relay team.
