Joe Perry was beaten 6-4 by Irishman Mark Allen in the quarter-finals of the Masters Snooker event at the Alexandra Palace today (January 16).
Perry led 2-1 and 3-2 and fought back to level at 4-4 before Allen won successive frames to seal victory in a scrappy affair.
Allen won the match despite making just one break in excess of 50, crucially it arrived in the ninth frame.
Perry had breaks of 68, 67 and 50, but ultimately fell short of a semi-final place.
Perry, from Chatteris, had beaten world number two Ding Junhui in the first round, his first ever win the tournament
