Skelhon wins a full set of World Cup medals

STILTON ace Matt Skelhon returned from the latest World Cup event in Turkey with a full set of medals as Britain’s disability shooting squad impressed in Antalya.

Skelhon linked up with Nathan Milgate (Herne Bay) and Deanna Coates (Yateley) to help Britain take gold in the R3 10m Air Rifle prone SH1 mixed with a total combined score of 1,792, beating Russia by 18 points.

It was to be the only gold for the British squad but Skelhon also weighed in with a silver and bronze. His silver came in the R3 10m Air Rifle Prone SH1 mixed. He scored 598 in qualification followed by 104.1 to beat GB team-mate Milgate (598 and 103.4) into third but could not match Slovakia’s Radoslav Malenovsky (598 and 105.8).

Skelhon completed the full set of medals with bronze in the Falling Target Rifle SH1 mixed competition Matt Skelhon. He was beaten into third by Austria’s Werner Muller and Sweden’s Fredrick Larsson in silver.

The Stilton shooter was also fifth in the men’s R1 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1, where Muller (687.3) won from Milgate (683.7) and Larsson (683.1). Skelhon scored 675.8. The event saw 14 nations in action.
