Joe Perry, who hails from Chatteris, lost a high-class quarter-final to former world champion John Higgins in the Australian Open last night (July 2).

Perry went down 5-3 in Bendigo, Victoria despite notching breaks of 136 and 137. The latter enabled Perry to level at 3-3 from 3-1 behind, but Higgins won a tight seventh frame before clinching victory.

Perry also recorded a break of 73 in frame five as he completed a satisfactory start to the new season.
