Peterborough Triathlon Club (PACTRAC) members were out in force for the first big event of the season - the Dambuster Duathlon at Rutland Water - and they made a big impression.
They had 18 members tackle the tough event, which involved a 6.25-mile run, 26-mile bike ride and another three-mile run, and five of them made it onto the podium.
It was a challenging race but Paul Lunn made it look easy racing home in seventh place overall in 2:01:16 and he won the 40-44 age group.
George Prodrick also won his age group (75-79) while Jim Fell (65-69) and Antony Brown (55-59) were second in theirs.
Sue Davys was the fifth PACTRAC member to make the podium, finishing third in the female 55-59 age group.
The event was a qualifying race for the World Duathlon Championships to be held in Adelaide, Australia, on October 14 and the top four in each age group made the GB team.
Both Lunn and Fell qualified but Prodrick, Brown and Davys did not wish to be considered for qualification.
Another local off to Adelaide is Claire Steels.
The City of Peterborough Hockey Club star and a member of Bourne Town Harriers, finished fifth in the female 20-25 age group but one of those who finished ahead of her wasn’t entered in the World Championship qualifier.
