Young city gymnast Jake Jarman goes into this weekend’s British Championships in London with high hopes of a medal after some outstanding recent performances.
The Deepings School pupil bounced back from a knee injury, which put him out of action for six weeks, to star for the East team that won the Men’s Elite Grade Regional Finals in Loughborough last month. He was first on the pommel horse, third on the parallel bars and fifth overall.
The Huntingdon Olympic Gymnastics Club member then took part in the Under 14 British Club Team Championships in Leicester and won a team silver, a high bar silver and finished fourth individual overall.
And then last weekend in the East Region Voluntary Championships in Ipswich, Jake returned to the sort of form that saw him selected for the British Elite Squad at the beginning of the year.
He came home with six medals - and four were gold.
He won on the pommel horse, the parallel bars and the high bar, finished runner-up on the rings and third on the floor and was the overall champion in his age group.
