Peterborough City Rowing Club had three crews in action at the Star Club Regatta in Bedford at the weekend and all were winners.

The women’s coxed four crew of Charlotte Adams, Megan Stoker, Hannah Chatfield, Aimee Parker and cox Hannah Parker recorded their first senior win at Peterborough a week earlier and found themselves competing against more experienced crews in the IM3 category.

But the new status did nothing to daunt the rowers as they won their heat against X Press Boat Club convincingly before lining up against a university crew in the final.

Peterborough took the lead by the halfway point of the race and pulled away from there to win by three lengths.

Coach Steve Casey praised cox Hannah Parker for steering a perfect line through what can be a difficult course.

Tom Marshall and Tom Nash entered the J15A double sculls and faced stiff competition from the Star Club crew.

The home crew had managed to gain a two metre advantage by the town bridge, approximately halfway down the course.

But Marshall and Nash drew level with just 200 metres of the 1,200 metre course left and a punishing final drive saw the Peterborough crew push past to win by a canvas.

The day wasn’t over for Nash as he also also raced in the J15 single sculls.

In his first heat he saw off a challenge from Star Club’s Rubens. The semi-final was a closely-fought contest which Nash won by a single length. In the final, the young sculler was able to take control of the race and won by a clear three lengths to round off a successful visit for Peterborough.
