Linnell rules at Kingsland

Webb's AC fished Kingsland Fishery for the first time this year and caught it just right as carp are once again on the move at this three-lake complex.

Out in front with 55lb 1oz from peg six was Mick Linnell. He started on a small feeder with pellet, but an inspired switch to caster on the pole did the trick as he netted carp close to double figures.

Second was Peter Telzewski, who fished the feeder for most of the day with a late run of fish giving him a total of 37lb 12oz.

Third place went to Andy Matthews with 32lb 3oz, again most of his fish falling to feeder tactics.

COCK INN

Despite a windy day on Four Islands the fishing was very good in the final round of the Cock Inn winter league at Decoy Lakes.

After a real fish-for-fish scrap with Chris Shortland on the next peg, the eventual winner and making it two on the trot was Steve Smith from peg 10 with 81lb 11oz. Most of his catch fell to maggot fished on a shallow pole line.

Second from peg nine was Shortland with 73lb 6oz and third Gary Sell on peg four with 63lb 14oz.

This was the last of 10 winter matches and the champion was Paul Faulkner with 75 pointsfollowed by Smith (71pts) and Shortland (53pts).
