LINCS PREMIER DIVISION: Deeping and Bourne tumble down the table

Market Deeping have fallen from first to fifth in two weekends of Lincs Premier Division action.

Their game at Sleaford, who started the day (July 2) at the top of the table, was abandoned with seven-and-a-half overs to go because of heavy rain.

A draw seemed the most likely outcome as Deeping were 145-6 in reply to the home side’s 269-4, of which overseas professional Obus Pienaar cracked 156.

Deeping were irritated Pienaar was able to crack 22 fours and a six in a 132-ball knock after failing to win a close lbw shout when he was just 20. The Sleaford star was also dropped just after passing 50.

Ashley Fisher, Zac Simmonds and Ali Sharp each picked up a wicket for Deeping, before Jamie Morgan top scored with 38 in their reply.

Bourne, who are enjoying a strong Twenty/20 season, can’t get going in the longer format of the game.

They went down by five wickets to Louth at the Abbey Lawns yesterady to slump to ninth in the 12-team table. Pete Morgan’s men are only 16 points clear of relegation.

Carl Wilson top scored with 32 and Tom Dixon added 30 as Bourne were dismissed for a disappointing 164 and Louth suffered few alarms in coasting home. Jack Berry (2-23) was the pick of the Bourne bowling.
