At major golf tournaments I root
for UK players first, then Europeans and then anyone but the Americans.
But Jordan Spieth (above) has presented me with a huge dilemma.
Not only did he dominate the Masters from start to finish with some glorious, record-breaking golf, but he also appears to be a decent, modest, unassuming young man.
He’s no Bubba Watson that’s for sure. Can’t ever see him stabbing a giant of the game in the front either like Phil Mickelson did to Tom Watson after the last Ryder Cup.
Hell, even Jack Nicklaus comes over as an arrogant bore when he appears on Masters TV.
Well done Jordan for being the exception that proves the rule that USA golfers are unloveable.
